Empowering Your Daily Life Through Occupational Therapy
At M&M Occupational Therapy, we understand the hurdles your family is facing and are here to lend a helping hand. Our team of compassionate occupational therapists is dedicated to partnering with your family to address your unique needs and goals. We're OTs but we're also mothers, wives, workers so we understand potential stressors and how families function.
We are on the Government of Saskatchewan Registray of Autism Providers. This registry lists service providers eligible to work with children under the ASD Individualized Funding Program.
Why virtual services?
We saw families in Saskatchewan waiting for in-person services or facing barriers to accessing in person therapy services. In talking with colleagues, we saw an opportunity to support families by focusing on an episode of care with a goal that would be provided virtually. At the end of the episode, families have the opportunity to continue with us or move onto other services.
What is Occupational Therapy?
Occupational therapy intervention uses everyday life activities (occupations) to promote health, well-being, and your ability to participate in the important activities in your life. This includes any meaningful activity that a person wants to accomplish, including taking care of yourself and your family, working, volunteering, going to school, among many others. (American Occupational Therapy Association)
Who are occupational therapists and where do they work?
Occupational therapists, often called OTs, are the primary providers of occupational therapy services. OTs are:
university educated professionals that apply their specialized knowledge and skills to recommend a course of preventive or corrective action that will help people lead more productive and satisfying lives,
trained to understand not only the medical and physical limitations of a disability or injury, but also the psychosocial factors that affect the functioning of the whole person – their health and their wellness, and
a regulated medical profession; occupational therapists must be registered with their provincial regulator in order to practice legally in Canada.
